Chhaya Collective's most recent work KHAOS, consisting of six dancers and three musicians, premiered in Portugal in October 2017, and is due to be developed and performed throughout 2018.
KHAOS is a contemporary dance and music production, celebrating collective female strength, empowerment and vigour. KHAOS derives from Greek mythology, and is said to have been the first of the primordial Gods in existence; a female energy born from darkness, who gave life to the earth and its elements.
Referencing the Phoenix, Chhaya's KHOAS explores life cycles from birth to death; born from ash and blooming into full splendour. The work explores how our collective human strength pushes us towards renewal and resurgence and is dedicated to women who have fought for their rights throughout history and continue to do so today.
