TAMING THE WILD . THE WILD WOMAN
Chhaya Collective's most recent work KHAOS, consisting of six dancers and three musicians, premiered in Portugal in October 2017, and is due to be developed and performed throughout 2018.
KHAOS is a contemporary dance and music production, inspired by the Women's March and the many voices unearthed within the current women's rights movement. We question, 'have we been tamed'? Within the societal power struggles of our time, we're on a search for our primitive, raw and primal selves; the inner (and outer) wild.
The title 'KHAOS' derives from a Primordial Greek Goddess, said to have been a female force of energy, born from darkness, giving life to our earth and its elements. Referencing the life cycle of the Phoenix, KHOAS explores how our collective female strength pushes us towards renewal and resurgence and is dedicated to women who have fought for their rights throughout history and continue to do so today.
