HANNAH SAUNDERS

Costume Designer

Hannah is a dancer and costume maker based in Devon. Training as a part of Exeter Youth Dance Company from 2015, she has performed pieces by Kay Crook as well as creating and making costumes for the company. Since then she has danced as a member of Spindrift Dance Company, Chhaya Collective and, most recently, Still Point Dance Theatre directed by Clare Parker.

As well as dancing Hannah has a passion for sewing. Having been taught by both her mum and her nan from a young age she is as at home behind a sewing machine as she is in the dance studio. Beginning by making her own costumes for performances, in 2013 she was asked to help to create costumes for Exmouth Community College’s production of ‘Oh What A Lovely War’, ‘Tartuffe’ in 2014 and returned in 2015 as costume manager for their production of ‘Anything Goes’.

In 2017 she was asked to come on board to create costumes for Chhaya Collective’s original creation of KHAOS. Working closely with Kay she created the costumes seen in the original version of the piece. They have also been worn by Chhaya’s Youth Company as part of their most recent work. Hannah recreated the touring costumes for KHAOS in 2019 and created the costumes for duet, HYMNOS.
